Privacy
Your privacy is important to us!

We’re dedicated to protecting your privacy and securing your personal and financial information. In line with this commitment, we have established a privacy program that includes policies and procedures designed to safeguard your personal information. This program, overseen by the Affinity Credit Union Privacy Office, is based on the ten fair information principles outlined in Canada’s federal privacy law for the private sector, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). These principles include:

  1. Accountability — We have established internal standards and methods to securely handle your personal data, and our Chief Privacy Officer is in charge of overseeing these processes.
  2. Identifying purposes — We let you know why we gather, use and share your information.
  3. Consent — We always get your consent to gather, use or share your information, unless the law permits or requires us to do so without it.
  4. Limiting collection — We only gather the personal information we need for the purposes we’ve identified.
  5. Limiting use, disclosure and retention — We restrict the use and sharing of personal information, and we only use and keep information for the reasons it was collected, unless you agree to other uses.
  6. Accuracy — We strive to keep your information as precise, complete and current as necessary for its intended use.
  7. Safeguards — We implement suitable safeguards to protect your information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
  8. Openness — We are transparent about how we handle your information and make our privacy policies accessible.
  9. Individual access — You have the right to request access to your personal information, and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
  10. Challenging compliance — You have the right to question our adherence to these principles.

Please review our full Privacy Policy for more details on our personal information handling practices and your options to control our use of your information.
